EDCO will not be performing residential collection services on Monday, September 7, 2009.
There will be a one-day delay during the week of September 7th for all residential waste and recycling collection except as noted. There will be no delay for waste and recycling collections services for residential customers in Lakewood.
Commercial Services will not be affected by the holiday and collection will be provided on the regularly scheduled service day except as noted. EDCO’s Public Disposal sites will be open and all Buyback Centers will be closed. There will be a one-day delay through Wednesday, September 9th for waste and recycling collection services for commercial businesses in the cities of Buena Park, La Mirada, and La Palma.

EDCO Named as a 2009 Environmental Partner of the City of San Diego’s Environmental Services Department!
 The Environmental Partner Award is a special recognition reserved for businesses which have worked closely with the Environmental Services Department (ESD) during the award year, contributed substantially to the City's compliance with the State's 50% waste reduction and diversion mandate, and served as a leader within the community for others to see and emulate.
ESD recognized EDCO for its continued leadership and improvements to the region's recycling infrastructure which has reduced the load on community landfills and conserved resources for future use, and for actively being involved in developing community recycling programs and new markets for collected materials. EDCO was also recognized for its collaboration with ESD, its vision and investments in advanced technologies which led to the development of the mixed construction and demolition (C&D) processing infrastructure in our region and the implementation of the City's C&D Ordinance, and its support of the City's residents and ESD’s waste diversion efforts in response to the 2007 Wild Fires which resulted in substantial amounts of materials being diverted from the landfill and helped the City’s residents realize notable cost savings relating to disposing of debris from their damaged properties.
