Project Overview
Signal Hill Disposal is developing an approximately 143,000 square foot distressed property at the NW corner of Patterson & California. The current overall site neighbors a newly constructed concrete plant and has three operating oil wells that will be maintained in proposed site plan, fourteen abandoned wells and one plugged dry hole that are to be remediated by the project.
EDCO has secured a long term lease on the site and proposed to construct a modern, approximately 68,000 sq ft enclosed, state of the art facility to accept, process and transport material generated from Signal Hill, surrounding communities and members of the general public. The facility will assist the City of Signal Hill and surrounding communities in achieving evolving State mandated recycling goals.
A full environmental review of the project will occur, including public participation. The design calls for a fully enclosed facility that utilizes “green” building design concepts including the use of recycled water when available. Other features include the following:
- AQMD compliant environmental control systems.
- Minimized building openings to assist in odor control and noise reduction.
- Material Recover Facility for diversion of recyclables.
- Green Waste collection area for collection, sorting, and recycling of green waste.
- Construction debris area for collection, sorting, and recycling construction debris
- Administrative offices.
- Daily litter pickup program on the site, along adjacent properties, and along the designated transportation routes to the facility.
- Specific truck routes will be designated for the use of trucks traveling to and from the facility.
