Automated Rubbish Collection

  • Signal Hill Disposal provides each single-family home residential customer with a 65-gallon capacity, GRAY automated cart for weekly rubbish collection.
  • Please set out waste containers in your designated collection area at the curb or in the alley.
  • Automated carts should be placed at least 2 feet away from obstructions such as parked cars, trees, telephone poles and mailboxes. Gray Cart
  • Please be careful not to place carts in areas of traffic, such as bike lanes, in order to avoid blocking paths of travel.

Collection Day Set-Out

Place automated carts in your designated collection area (in front of the residence or in the alley) on the street with the wheels against the curb or on the edge of the roadway. Arrows on the lid should point toward the street. Avoid placing carts next to obstructions, such as parked cars, utility poles, etc. Please be careful not to place carts in areas of traffic, such as bike lanes, in order to avoid blocking paths of travel.

When setting out waste and recycling carts for collection, always leave enough space so your postal carrier can access your mail box.

Community Clean Up Event

It is time to get the house and backyard cleaned up – and Signal Hill Waste & Recycling is here to help.

You can dispose of your unwanted stuff for FREE.  This bulky item disposal event is for residents to conveniently dispose of items that are too large or too heavy to set out for pick up on a regular waste collection day.

Please look for the date, time and location in your area.  And, remember that NO household hazardous waste, NO electronic waste and NO universal waste will be accepted. We cannot accept waste debris from contractors, landscapers or commercial businesses.

Signal Hill
Traditional Curbside Collection on Regularly Scheduled Residential Service Day

Residents living in apartment or condominium communities can take part in the Spring Clean Up by calling Signal Hill Waste & Recycling Services during the week of October 19, 2009 at (562) 597-0608 to schedule a special pick up.

Beginning in October, charges for trash service will no longer be included on your water bill. Signal Hill Disposal will start billing directly for your waste and recycling services, effective your next billing. Look for additional information with your initial invoice.

Questions and Answers

Why is the billing changing to EDCO?
This change will enhance billing services offered to Signal Hill residents.

When will my bill arrive?
You will receive your bill quarterly. Your first bill will arrive at the end October for the months of October, November and December.

Can I pay online?
Yes! It’s easy to pay online and free too! After you receive your first invoice you can pay by e-check, credit card or debit card. Just click on the Pay or View Your Bill link here (or at the top of this page).

Can I set up for auto deduction?
Yes! After you receive your first invoice you can register for our EZ Pay Recurring Payment option. Just click on the Pay or View Your Bill link here (or at the top of this page).

Will I still receive a water bill?
Yes. You will still receive your water bill from the City of Signal Hill.
